Women’s tennis posts doubles winning record and totals 11 wins at Middle Tennessee Hidden Duals | Tech Rasta


MURFEESBORO, Tenn. – Bellarmine women’s tennis had a busy weekend of tennis in Middle Tennessee and came away with 11 wins after three days of hidden double action.

The Knights have six doubles wins (6-5 overall record) and five singles wins over North Alabama, West Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Lipscomb, Chattanooga and Ball State.

Friday in doubles, the combo of Soldla Kryslova and Shu Grosso picked up a 6-2 doubles win over Lipscomb, while Ekaterina Tikhonko and Maja Kozersky posted a 6-3 win over the Bisons. Later in the day, Tikhonko and Kryslova earned a convincing 6-1 doubles win over MTSU. That same duo beat Chattanooga’s top doubles team 6-2 on Saturday and UNA’s top team 6-3 on Sunday. Cydney Rogers and Hanley Rinner also teamed up for a doubles win over North Alabama, winning 7-5.


In singles action, Kryslova beat Ball State’s Elena Malykh 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 on Saturday morning, and Rogers followed her up with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 win over Emma Peeler of Ball State. . Tikhonko was dominant against MTSU’s Muskan Gupta, winning 6-0, 6-1 on Sunday morning, and Kryslova notched her second singles win of the weekend against Love-Star Alexis 0-6, 7-6(3), 10-5. Bellarmine’s last singles win came with Kozerski, who beat MTSU’s Cara Szilasi 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday.


“I’m proud of the team this weekend,” Knights head coach said Brian Slack said. “It was a lot of tennis in three days. We have work to do and we have a few weeks before our next tournament to work on these things. I’m proud that every player had a victory this weekend either in singles C is something that we will develop in the future.

The Knights will take three weeks off before hosting their final fall event Oct. 22-23 in Louisville.
