Women’s tennis opens the season at the Villanova Invitational | Tech Rasta


VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania – The Drexel women’s tennis team opened its 2022-23 sports season at the Villanova Invitational on Friday night. The Dragons took on the Wildcats and won two doubles matches and five of six singles matches.

Isabelle Cabrerizo and Aida Garcia Mendez beat their opponents 7-6 (4) while Renata Lombera and Cristina Corte Gonzalez won, 6-1.

In singles play, Lorie Lemongo started his second season in winning fashion, beating his opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Cabrerizo took his match in the third set and won, 3-6, 7-5, 12-10. Renata Lombera also beat their opponent Wildcat in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Lately, Mya Fuentes won their match 6-2, 6-4.

The Dragons return to Villanova University on Saturday for day two of the three-day invite.
