Women’s tennis competes in the St. Lawrence Invitational | Tech Rasta


TOWNSHIP, NY – The RIT women’s tennis team had a strong showing at the 2022 St. Lawrence University Invitational over the weekend. The graduate student team Kirsten Auble and senior Jackie Drozd ranked fourth in flight “A”.

The Invitational was played using the Billie Jean King Cup score where the duos play one doubles match and two singles matches with the best of the three advancing in the pool.

Auble and Drozd beat the team of Caitlyn Avery and Maya Stepic (St. Lawrence), 8-6 in their first round of doubles. In singles action, Avery beat Auble, 8-4, but the Tigers advanced with Drozd’s 8-6 win over Stepic. In the match for third place, Auble and Drozd lost 8-7 in doubles to Union’s Gabby Gatto and Kennedy Alexis. Drozd won their singles match, beating Alex, 8-2, but Gatto beat Auble, 8-3 to take third place.

RIT is scheduled to return to action on Friday, September 23 at the ITA Northeast Championship hosted by Hamilton College.
