TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Georgia men’s tennis team concluded the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall tournament on Sunday afternoon, falling to Team Alabama Crimson in the consolation final despite sophomores. Thomas Paulsel and Miguel Perez Peña’s 6-3 doubles result against Enzo Aguiard and Roan Jones.

“We finished strong in doubles playing our best game of the weekend,” said the associate head coach Jamie Hunt. “Thomas and Miguel showed a lot of improvement. We were challenged in the singles and couldn’t quite get the job done, but a lot of positives from the weekend and we know exactly what we need to do. to improve.”

Paulsell and Perez Peña picked up their first win together this year on the final day of play against quality competition. Sophomore Aguiard was the Crimson Tide’s choice for short two singles last season, while Jones was Britain’s sixth under-18 player as a junior.

Perez Peña concluded his singles matches at Four-In-The-Fall by dropping his match against Aguiard in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 decision. The second went 2-1 this weekend at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium, now 4-2 so far in the fall season.

Fifth year British Johnson was also unable to beat his opponent in singles play this afternoon, losing to Jones 6-1, 6-4.

Paulsell, a Seattle native, finished the weekend with two singles wins, improving to 4-1 on the year. The second beat Alabama’s Joao Ferreira on Friday and Tulane’s Charlie Barry on Saturday, both in straight sets. He did not participate in the singles competition on Sunday.

The next fall event that will feature an athlete from the Georgia men’s tennis team is the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Tournament, which is scheduled to begin this week in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
