Men’s tennis wraps up day two of ITA USA Championships | Tech Rasta


Tulsa, Oklahoma. – Penn State men’s tennis wraps up action during day two of the 2022 ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. sunday.

After a strong performance on Saturday, senior Charles Morgan and second Loren Byer did not reach the round of 16 defeat on Sunday morning. Morgan was defeated by Oklahoma State’s Alejandro Garcia in a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 game, while Loren Byer lost to Carlos Hernandez of Mississippi State 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Four Nittany Lions competed in the pre-qualifying consolation round.

Malik Bhatnagar was defeated by Nebraska’s Calvin Mueller in a 6-4, 6-1 game. Harrison Janes lost Beau Pelletier to Liberty 6-2, 6-4. Sam Bossem took down Ezequiel Monferrer of Oral Roberts in three sets before falling, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Miko Eala also suffered a loss to Nathan Han of Oklahoma, 7-6(1), 6-2.

Doubles action kicks off Monday with Morgan and Eala teaming up against Southern Methodist’s Jack Winkler and Julian Steinhausen. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT at the Case Tennis Center in LaFortune Park.

Beau Pelletier (LIB) defeated. Harrison Janes (PSU) 6-2, 6-4
Ezequiel Monferrer (ORU) defeated. Sam Bossem (PSU) 4-6, 6-2, 7-5
Nathan Han (OU) defeated. Miko Eala (PSU) 7-6(1), 6-2
