Men’s tennis weekend wraps up at Joe Hunt Invitational | Tech Rasta


ANNAPOLIS, Md. –The Saint Joseph’s men’s tennis team concluded its second fall weekend at the Joe Hunt Invitational hosted by the US Naval Academy on Sunday afternoon.

Inigo Diaz reached the Purple Singles draw championship match, but fell to an opponent by George Mason.

• In doubles, Diaz and Nassim Fenjiro teamed up to win their final match, 6-1, against a duo of the aspiring hosts.

“It was a solid tournament overall for us; we played at a much higher level than last weekend and it was honestly a very positive three days for us at Navy,” the head coach said. . Marc Pibernat said. “A special mention to our freshman Inigo Diazwho had an incredible weekend reaching the final of his flight winning three very good matches and also playing good doubles with Nassim.

“There are still things we can definitely improve on but this is just the start for us and in the last three days I feel like the team has reached another level. It was very unfortunate that Justus Agbo twisted his ankle in Saturday’s first singles match and had to retire. He was playing good tennis but he will come back stronger. The team will have a day off tomorrow and on Tuesday we will start preparing for our invitational tournament.”

The Hawks will host the annual Saint Joseph’s Invitational at the SJU Tennis Complex beginning Friday afternoon.
