Reinforcing Dubai’s position as a hub for technology, innovation, events and tourism, the Festival brought together prominent players, esports thought leaders and fans from around the world. The concluding day of the 12-day Festival featured the championship round of the PUBG Global Championship Finals 2022, which saw Team Natus Vincere crowned winners and Team 17 taking second place.

DEF 2022 kicked off with the two-day Launch Conference, a key B2B learning and networking platform for esports and gaming industry professionals, developers and designers. The conference was held in collaboration with the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) and Dubai Media City, a member of TECOM Group, the Knowledge Partner of the event. The first edition of the Conference received more than a thousand participants and more than 60 industry and sports leaders, showing of Dubai the desire for growth in the esports industry.

Organized in collaboration with DWTC and Alanza Trading, GameExpo and PopConME started the second day as the two main attractions of the Festival. GameExpo and PopConME featured some of the biggest ones Hollywood celebrities, special meet-and-greet sessions, exclusive workshops, film screenings, international artists and creators, artist competitions, cosplay competitions awarding Dh75,000 to the winner, gaming competitions and esports competitions.

During the four-day GameExpo, three grassroots esports tournaments were held in collaboration with international gaming titles, including Minecraft and Honor of Kings, while regional esports competitors and youth players took to the stage to showcase their skills and win valuable prizes up to $25,000. Ending the first Festival, the famous Egyptian artist Wegz performed live at the festival with an impressive musical performance.
